The first edition of the Catalog also listed the second species of this genus, Spongomorpha arcta (Dillwyn) Kützing – marine, sublittoral; on stones, thallome of Fucus, Laminaria (Блинова, 1962). Species of the genus Spongomorpha, unlike Acrosiphonia, have mononuclear cells. In the Russian northern seas, there is one species with filament diameter of 30 mkm. In the papers on the algae of the White Sea and Murman, Е.С. Зинова used this one name for two species: Acrosiphonia sonderi and A. incurva with filament diameter from 110 to 200 mkm. It is unknown, for which particular species Блинова used this name. (Михайлова, 2010).
